Freetrix

This project would essentially do on Windows what Citrix^© does but using Open Source software on top of MS Windows^©. There are a few parts that currently work and some that do not work yet.

• Cygwin - Unix layer on Windows
• XFree86 on Windows with -rootless mode
• VNC(unix version) on windows to run multiple simultaneaous Graphical sessions OR
• XF4vnc ported to XFree86 for Cygwin to run multiple simultaneous graphical sessions
• WINE running on MS Windows^© to turn Win Apps into X apps
• sshd running on the Windows machine for security

With all these tools one could run windows programs in a complete desktop that is accessible from across the network using an RFB client such as vncviewer while at the same time running multiple sessions as multiple users in separate desktop sessions.

Also, a Windows application could be run from one PC and displayed on another PC both running MS Windows^©. This is common in the Xwindows environments of Unix, but requires costly third party tools under MS Windows^©.

Be warned that this may not be legal because of MS licenses restricting the use of the software. This idea is purely for academic study.
